Dorset Knob 2 Ham Rec Res. 1
On a wet pitch at Branksome Rec the game started well for us. We had the opening of the play and went close on a few occasions with new signing Mark Dykes causing the Knob defence real problems. We should have gone one up when a fantastic cross from Kyle fell to Wayne Hole who managed to hit it straight at the keeper from 3 yards out.
This was a let off for the Knob who gradually started to get on top. We were not dominating in midfield and they were starting to look a real threat and took the lead just before half time when their number 32 hit a sweet half volley into the top corner to leave us trailing 1.0 at the interval.
With conditions getting worse all the time the game was turning into a battle and unfortunately the Knob were up for it and we were not. We threw Charlie on early in the second half to try and get at their slow defence but nothing we did seemed to come off for us. Charlie should have scored to get us back in the game but he blazed his shot well over the bar.
We then went 2 down and that pretty much killed the game off, a big mistake from Maitland allowed ringer Jamie Holland in who made it 2 with a great finish.
Dan Manual came on to grab us a late consolation but we were unable to force an equaliser and the game ended in a 2.1 defeat.
