Hamworthy Recreation 5 Balti Sports 3

Rec handed Sports their 1st defeat of the season and in doing so, the last team to have an unbeaten record tasted defeat as 4 goals for Rec's Chris Long (now 13 in 9 matches) and an Ash Boyt special gave Rec the points at Magna Road.

Having scored first through Dan Andrews early on (a great interpassing move on 6 minutes), Balti were outplayed for the rest of the 1st half and Rec went in at halftime deservedly 3-1 to the good.

ASH BOYT got the home side off the mark 2 minutes later with a special from outside the area to put Rec level.

CHRIS LONG (earlier taken out - no yellow!) then ran on to a great through ball from Ross H-Brown to put the home side a goal up on 16 minutes. On 24 minutes Richie Sands and Boyt combined well before Sands crossed for LONG to head home his second and Rec's third.

In the 33rd minute Rec lost Sands to a hamstring injury and Luke Geddes came on as sub.

The home side dominated the half and created further chances to no avail.

LONG completed his hattrick in the 51st minute having fought (nearly literaly) off a defender before shooting high into the net.

A defensive error allowed Sports a toe hold in the match when a cross was allowed to reach Sammy Nichols, who made no mistake from the edge of the area.

Now the visitors came more into the game, exerting pressure on the home defence with the occasional breakaway from the home side. During one of these LONG scored his fourth (Rec's 5th), heading in a cross from Callum Charlton.

An injury time penalty from Balti's Ricky Lane (for what!?) gave the final score a bit more respectability for the visitors but did not detract from a terrific performance from the hosts. FT 5-3
